 Parkston Pool

The Swimming Pool opened at the East City Park. The pool was 125 ft. long and 10-32 ft. wide. There, kids learned to swim.

                                                                   

Parkston Big  Flood

On Sunday March 27,1960 Parkston school flooded. It happened because there was so much snow and then it melted all the roads were under water and driveways were flushed out.

Parkston Farming

On September 1888, hogs were more money. A farmer could get five cents a pound or more for the farmer's hogs. Parkston in 1896

Parkston was named after Edwin R. Parks. Dakota City was located one and one half miles south of Parkston. The 1st building in Parkston was the housing, it was moved from  Dakota City to Parkston. People wanted to live in the new town Parkston, because the railroads came through. Everyone thought Dakota City would have a lot of people. On June 1886, Parkston had six to eight general stores, three or four hardware stores, four machinery dealers. By November 1886, there were almost 100 people living in Parkston. By late June 1886, most of the buildings from Dakota City had been moved to Parkston. There was no sign of Dakota City.
